From the mind and spirit of Novice Sister Iona Dubble Wyde, comes this inspiration of Darshan here in our community of San Diego.

Darshan is a Sanskrit term meaning sight (in the sense of an instance of seeing something or somebody), vision, apparition, or a glimpse. It is most commonly used for visions of the divine; that is, of a god or a very holy person or artifact.

"There isn't anything more divine for us in the gay community than to care for our own.  What would be a better way to see the divine than to hand out information to support our brothers and sisters in the community?

"Join us in the spirit of promulgating joy by handing out ways for our GLBT family to protect themselves when they may be in harm's way.  We shall be heading out on Friday to Urban Mo's to start our Darshan procession through the very heart of our neighborhood.

"We will begin by branding the street in front Urban Mo's with JOY and handing out the barcards provided by the San Francisco MotherHouse to everyone we see inside and outside one of most popular and warmest places in the hood.  From there we shall carry our procession down University Avenue spreading Hope in the face of fear and JOY to all we encounter until we hit Richs.  There we will once again brand JOY on the side of the street and spread it through the lines and the people inside and out of Richs."

Oh God, lead us from the unreal to the Real.
Oh God, lead us from darkness to light.
Oh God, lead us from death to immortality.
Shanti, Shanti, Shanti unto all.
Oh Lord God almighty, may there be peace in celestial regions.
May there be peace on earth.
May the waters be appeasing.
May herbs be wholesome, and may trees and plants bring peace to all.
May all beneficent beings bring peace to us.
May thy Vedic Law propagate peace all through the world.
May all things be a source of peace to us.
And may thy peace itself, bestow peace on all, and may that peace come to me also.
